About: Human trafficking is a major problem in Michigan. Awareness especially by those in medical roles will help reduce that problem. Many providers have unknowingly encounter victims and could be the difference between freedom and continued capture/torture. This session will be led by the Michigan State Police and will cover the law enforcement efforts to minimize human trafficking.
Purpose: To bring awareness to key professional stakeholders who oversee and care for those who are suspected as being connected to human trafficking from pre-hospital setting to the emergency department and beyond. To help health care staff, identify, understand how to work with law enforcement and intervene to reduce human trafficking in Michigan.
