Description
The American College of Surgeons now requires trauma centers to assess the pediatric readiness of their emergency department (ED) and develop a plan for closing identified gaps. Unfortunately, many administrators at adult facilities do not see the urgency of this requirement. At the same time, many trauma and ED leaders have misconceptions about the difficulty and cost of improving pediatric readiness.
This new webinar will help trauma center and ED leaders sort through the many options and possibilities to chart a clear and manageable path to pediatric readiness. Emergency nursing expert Karen Webb will dispel the misconceptions surrounding pediatric readiness and explain the small improvements that can add up to significant gains. She will also share doable strategies for immediately improving pediatric readiness in team processes, staff education and physical resources.
During this one-hour webinar, attendees will learn:
How to spot “wishful thinking” in your organization’s National Pediatric Readiness Project self-assessment
How to create manageable systems for monitoring and improving pediatric care quality
How to secure pediatric equipment, supplies and medications without significant extra costs
How to create a focused pediatric readiness gap report and a realistic action plan
How to establish pediatric emergency care coordinators (PECCs) with no new budget
This webinar will include a live Q&A segment, so everyone who attends will have the chance to ask their specific questions about pediatric readiness — and receive a well-informed answer from an expert in ED operations and pediatric trauma care.
This event is designed for trauma program leaders, ED managers and directors, hospital executives, pediatric care providers, child life specialists, and anyone who is dedicated to ensuring that children receive the best care possible.
