Goals:

  • Enhancing Preparedness: Review  roles and responsibilities of emergency responders, public health officials, and local government agencies in a chemical incident.

  • Testing Response Plans: Evaluate the effectiveness of existing chemical incident response plans, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that they align with the latest best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Strengthening Coordination: Improve coordination and communication among different agencies and organizations involved in chemical response.

Objectives:

  • Review existing chemical emergency care assets and identify gaps that may occur during a chemical mass casualty incident.

  • Review agency/facility role during a chemical incident.

  • Validate assumptions in the HCC Chemical Emergency Surge Annex.

  • Identify changes that need to be made in the HCC Chemical Emergency Surge Annex based on the roles and capabilities of the involved partners.

Audience: Hospital Emergency Preparedness and Response Staff, MCS/EMS Agencies, Emergency Management, Public Health agencies, other agencies that may be part of a Chemical Response.
